The bees will stay in their hive for the winter snuggling together vibrating their wings keeping it around 92 degrees inside. We do wrap the hives in bubble wrap to help them insulate from winds. When the temperature warms in the winter the bees will fly out of the hive to do a “cleansing flight” or eliminate waste. They keep the inside of the hive sterile, never using it for a bathroom.
